Personal roles and interests

Languages:
Languages, languages and yes more languages! I love traveling and have done so across Europe, fascinated by listening to the speakers more than anything else a tourist might be interested in. I also read in different languages; The Da Vinci Code was thrilling in French.

Being a Christian:
My faith is an essential part of my daily life, and it’s not just about going to Church on a Sunday (although that is of course part of it) - I am a member of Holy Trinity Church Cambridge. I also enjoy meeting in two small groups during the week - one evening with Tom and other friends, one morning with ladies who have children - where we study the Bible, discuss questions, pray for each other and our friends/family/colleagues/others, and have regular social events.
Family:
My primary role in life is being Mum to my little boy Andrew, and we make up a three-person family with my husband Tom. It’s so amazing watching our son grow and develop all the time, and I love helping him along the way. We go to various baby groups in Cambridge, including Little Sheep, Rhyme time, and swimming.
Swimming:
I used to swim in the City of Coventry Swimming club. But now those days are over, I still enjoy gently pacing up and down the lanes in Cambridge two or three times a week. It keeps me fit and gives me a bit of time to think.
Writing and editorial:
I enjoy writing articles for parenting magazines, and I’ve recently become editor for the Voice - magazine of the Cambridge branch of the National Childbirth Trust. I also write regularly on my blog - Mixed Bag of All Sorts - about various topics including mum-hood, my faith, linguistics, craft and baking.
Comedy:
I love watching and listening to comedy in any form. Our DVD collection comprises mostly sitcoms (British and some American), and hilarious films.
